From 253319ee50c100644589aac430baeb7d1d3dd20d Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Mohamed Boudra Date: Wed, 25 Mar 2026 17:37:00 +0700 Subject: [PATCH] Complete (not cancel) autonomous turns on interrupt MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit When a foreground message interrupts an autonomous turn, the notification content has already been dispatched to subscribers. Canceling says "this turn didn't happen" — but it did. Complete it instead, preserving the lifecycle semantics and preventing notification loss. - Change interrupt() to call completeAutonomousTurn instead of cancelAutonomousTurn, with flushPendingToolCalls before completion - Remove dead cancelAutonomousTurn method (no remaining callers) - Fix autonomous wake tests B and C to handle notification/foreground timing race: when task_notification arrives during a foreground turn, there is no separate autonomous running edge afterwards --- .../server/agent/providers/claude-agent.ts | 17 +----- .../claude-autonomous-wake.real.e2e.test.ts | 58 +++++++++++++------ 2 files changed, 42 insertions(+), 33 deletions(-) diff --git a/packages/server/src/server/agent/providers/claude-agent.ts b/packages/server/src/server/agent/providers/claude-agent.ts index f6a8107b8..2ad8351e0 100644 --- a/packages/server/src/server/agent/providers/claude-agent.ts +++ b/packages/server/src/server/agent/providers/claude-agent.ts @@ -1381,7 +1381,8 @@ class ClaudeAgentSession implements AgentSession { } if (this.autonomousTurn) { - this.cancelAutonomousTurn("Interrupted"); + this.flushPendingToolCalls(); + this.completeAutonomousTurn(); } await this.interruptActiveTurn(); @@ -2154,20 +2155,6 @@ class ClaudeAgentSession implements AgentSession { this.syncTurnState("autonomous turn completed"); } - private cancelAutonomousTurn(reason: string): void { - if (!this.autonomousTurn) { - return; - } - this.flushPendingToolCalls(); - this.notifySubscribers({ - type: "turn_canceled", - provider: "claude", - reason, - }); - this.autonomousTurn = null; - this.syncTurnState("autonomous turn canceled"); - } - private failActiveTurns(errorMessage: string): void { const failure = this.buildTurnFailedEvent(errorMessage); this.flushPendingToolCalls(); diff --git a/packages/server/src/server/daemon-e2e/claude-autonomous-wake.real.e2e.test.ts b/packages/server/src/server/daemon-e2e/claude-autonomous-wake.real.e2e.test.ts index fccca9e86..be0657fc5 100644 --- a/packages/server/src/server/daemon-e2e/claude-autonomous-wake.real.e2e.test.ts +++ b/packages/server/src/server/daemon-e2e/claude-autonomous-wake.real.e2e.test.ts @@ -463,13 +463,27 @@ describe("daemon E2E (real claude) - autonomous wake from background task", () = expect(helloFinish.status).toBe("idle"); expect((helloFinish.lastMessage ??
